Toned: Zac Efron showed off his buff physique on a behind-the-scenes featurette for his new movie Charlie St. Cloud
He shot to fame as a teenage heart throb on hit Disney film High School Musical.
But Zac Efron is looking very much the grown up in new pictures which feature the star behind the scenes of his new film Charlie St Cloud.
The 22-year-old star showed he clearly spends a lot of time working out at the gym as he revealed his toned chest and biceps.
Six pack: The star has come a long way since his High School Musical days
The pictures are from a video featurette from new movie Charlie St Cloud where Zac explains a scene he filmed in a massive underground tank.
'It takes up pretty much the whole stage,' Zac says. 'Underwater, there’s this system, but you can actually hear voices underwater! I have no idea how it works.'
'It’s a lot of stuff you wouldn’t have to expect to have to deal with.
'When there’s elements involved like swimming through murky water, getting a certain piece of your vest snagged, very precise movements, it’s hard to hold your breath.'

In the film, Zac plays a teenager who has to choose between keeping a promise he made to his brother, who died in a car accident, or trying to get the girl he loves.
Since the end of High School Musical, Zac has taken on a variety of different roles, including comedy 17 Again and drama Me And Orson Welles.
In fact, Zac was so determined to take his career in a new direction, he is said to have turned down the lead role in the remake of 1980s movie Footloose to star in Charlie St. Cloud.

‘It's just something different. I just knew what I had to do personally and that was slow down and really do something that was a challenge,’ he said at the film's Los Angeles premiere.
'I wanted to do something that was really hard, see how far I can go,' he added.
'It feels more suspenseful, mysterious and supernatural. It is a much more emotional role.
'I hope it serves as a memorable transition into older, more complex characters.'
