Star quality: Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt attended the LA premiere of her new film Salt today
Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt took a break from saving the world to walk the red carpet at the premiere of her new film Salt in Los Angeles last night.
The golden couple, who have six children, lit up the Grauman's Chinese Theatre in Hollywood as they signed autographs and chatted with fans.
But Brad, 46, who recently shaved his long beard to the delight of his many fans, was clearly cast in the supporting role.
It was Angelina's time to shine in a dazzling black sequinned mini-dress that put her legs on show.
But the sequinned confection wasn't short enough to reveal the new tattoo she has on her inner thigh, a secret tribute to her partner.
Secret ink: While the actress' dress was incredibly short, her new inner thigh tattoo, which she had done 'for Brad', was kept hidden
The 35-year-old showed a hint of the ink in a recent photoshoot for Vanity Fair but declined to reveal what it said.
When quizzed about the etching last week, a coy Angelina would only say: ‘Um, it’s for Brad.’
The star now has a total of 14 tattoos, including the map co-ordinates detailing the countries of birth of her adopted children Maddox eight, Pax, six, and Zahara, five; and biological kids, Shiloh, four, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 23-months-old.
Her father Jon Voight also made a surprise appearance on the red carpet, along with her brother James Haven.
Leading man: Brad played the supportive partner for the occasion
Happy couple: The pair looked in very high spirits as they arrived
The famously fiery father and daughter recently reconciled after years of estrangement which began in 2001 when he said she had 'serious mental problems.'
Meanwhile, the actress is already thinking ahead to her next movie, which will see her take on the part of Cleopatra.
Elizabeth Taylor's portrayal of the iconic Egyptian queen in the 1963 movie earned critical acclaim, and Jolie said her take on Cleopatra will be very different.
She told the New Straits Times: 'I will play it differently to Elizabeth Taylor, but I could never be as lovely as she was.
The look of love: Brad couldn't take his eyes of the actress
Meet and greet: The star signed autographs for fans
Family affair: Angelina's father Jon Voight made a surprise appearance at the event along with her brother James Haven
'We are trying to uncover the truth about her as a leader and not just a sex symbol which she really wasn't - she didn't have many lovers, maybe only two, and they're men she had children with.'
She added: 'She was misunderstood and her life story was written wrongly. I always thought her life was very glamorous.
'Then I read her story and found a different side to her - that she was a mother, leader and an intellect who spoke five languages!
'Her upbringing also reflected her relationship with Rome - all that is much more interesting than what she was summed up to be.'
Salt hits screens in the US on July 23 and in the UK on August 20.
